World Para Athletics Championships: Day Five preview
Samantha Kinghorn will go in pursuit of her second title at the World Para Athletics Championships as Great Britain looks to add more medals to its collection on day five.
Kinghorn broke the world record on her way to sealing gold in the T53 200m with a time of 28.61 seconds, and will be looking for much the same when she takes to the track for the 400m heats on Tuesday morning.
The 21-year-old will line up in lane seven in the first heat at 12.40pm, bidding for a place in the final which will take place on Wednesday night.
Having crashed and been disqualified from the T54 800m final on Tuesday, Richard Chiassaro will be keen to make amends as he mounts his campaign in the 200m on Wednesday morning.
Chiassaro, the reigning European champion in the event, is among the favourites to land the title, but will face stiff competition from Dutchman Kenny van Weeghel and Germany’s Marc Schuh in his heat, which gets underway at 12.30pm.
Should he qualify for the final, he will be back on the London Stadium track at 9.45pm on Tuesday night.
Also in action in Tuesday’s morning session is Nathan Maguire, who missed out on a place in the T54 800m final on Monday.
He will go again in the first heat of the T54 200m, lining up in lane three at 12.20pm, while Luke Sinnott will be hoping to be among the medals in the T42 long jump final which gets underway at 10.36am.
Day five’s evening session will see Sabrina Fortune make her London 2017 debut in the women’s F20 shot put at 7pm, before Polly Maton will look to be among the medals in the T47 100m at 8.55pm.
